Miss Karry Wang
Karry Wang founded her dance troupe, 4D Dance Studio, in 2013. Karry graduated from the Nanjing University of the Arts in China with a degree in Dance Choreography and holds a Master’s degree in Arts Management from George Mason University. With 25 years of dance experience, she has studied Chinese classical dance, Chinese folk dance, ballet, and modern dance. Her work *Medusa* was recognized as a national-level research project in Jiangsu Province, China. Karry has obtained a teaching certificate from the Beijing Dance Academy and a pre-professional certificate in dance/movement therapy from the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA), focusing on the role of creative dance education in children's physical and mental development. Her choreographic works include the public service advertisement *Dance·Drug*, *"Modern Dance Talks": Memory·Fragments*, and *Memory·Light Life*, among others. She also choreographed performances for the opening ceremony of the 2nd Youth Olympic Games.
In the United States, Karry became a promoter of traditional arts, teaching at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, George Mason University, Montgomery College Dance Department, and the Confucius Institute U.S. Center. Karry is a member of the American Dance Association, the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP). In 2019, she was approved to become a member of the International Dance Council (CID) of UNESCO. Her performances include events for Prince George's County and the State of Maryland's Asian Heritage Month, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Asian Month, National Dance Day Masterclasses at the Kennedy Center, the Northern Virginia Dance Alliance Festival, the Move Me Festival, George Mason University Center for the Arts, Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts Festival, the Shakespeare Theatre Company, and the Freer and Sackler Galleries of Asian Art.
Karry is the founder of the U.S.-based World Dance Culture Media and the cultural dance curriculum designer for Metropole Arts Academy. She focuses on developing an Eastern-style dance training method and designing courses applicable in American higher education. She actively integrates traditional Chinese medicine theories into dance movement to promote understanding of Chinese dance culture and wellness practices among the American public. In 2020, Karry successfully obtained the U.S. O-1 visa for individuals with extraordinary ability and began teaching Chinese cultural dance at George Mason University and Montgomery College.
